Stay Fresh Foods expands HPP operations in US

FBR Staff Writer Published 30 January 2013

US-based Stay Fresh Foods has expanded its high pressure processing (HPP) operations to the north-eastern region of the country.

The 55-ton, 350-liter capacity HPP press, manufactured by Avure Technologies is set to commence first production on 4 February.

HPP uses extremely high water pressure to destroy foodborne pathogens such as E.coli, Listeria, and Salmonella in a wide range of packaged, refrigerated foods, from sliced deli meats to fresh fruit juices and smoothies.

The move allows food manufacturers to eliminate preservatives, chemicals, and sodium from their recipes.

Stay Fresh Foods, based in Connecticut, US, is a provider of custom high pressure processing services to the food industry, utilizing proven technology that substantially improves the safety and extends the shelf-life of packaged foods without chemical additives or preservatives.
