Plasma Clean, Meiko collaborate to eliminate food waste odors
Plasma Clean, a UK-based developer of air purification systems, has entered into a new partnership with Meiko, a leading manufacturer of commercial dishwashing machines and systems, to offer its Xtract 2100 Ionizer technology as a standard odor control system in Meiko’s hi-tech food waste management systems.
According to Plasma Clean, the new technology completely eliminates the need for expensive roof exhaust odor control systems.
Unlike exhausts which divert odors to a different location, the easy-to-install Xtract 2100 uses ionisation method to destroy odors at the source before they become a problem.
Meiko's systems transport commercial food waste to central tank, where it is stored for several months before being disposed, and bad odors usually occur in vacuum pumps and ventilation areas of the system.
The new partnership offers Meiko customers - typically commercial kitchens -instant elimination of bad odors that would otherwise affect customer service.
The new technology was evaluated at a Meiko food waste management system serving the Langham Hotel in Central London, where foul smells emitting from the tank, exhaust and vacuum pumps of a Meiko Microvac system were leading to contamination of the loading bay and ball room areas.
The trial results showed that Plasma Clean's technology was successfully able to eradicate the problem odours instantly.
Meiko managing director Bill Downie said the company now offers Xtract 2100 as a standard odor control option in the Microvac system because it eradicates smells at source, is easy to maintain and replace and offers real value for money to customers.
"It's a truly cost effective way for our customers to combat food waste odours," Downie added.
