PepsiCo to install new packaging equipment at Lincoln facility

PepsiCo is planning to install new packaging equipment at its Walkers crisps factory in Lincoln, a move that is expected to result in 87 job losses.

The company noted that it was entering a consultation period with workers as it considered implementing major changes at its Lincoln facility.

Walkers Lincoln site leader Steve Switzer was quoted by FoodManufacture.co.uk as saying that the company is reviewing its business operations in order to remain competitive take full advantage of future growth opportunities.

The new machines are expected to change the way the company packs goods, improve efficiency and ensure Lincoln has the capacity to support the long-term growth of the Walkers business in the UK.
