Norpac Foods, Henningsen to establish new distribution facility in US

Norpac Foods, a US-based processor of fruits and vegetable, has entered into an agreement with Henningsen Cold Storage to establish a $25m cold storage and distribution facility in southeast Salem, US.

The proposed facility, constructed on a land owned by Norpac, will be spread over an area of around 260,000ft2. Henningsen will own and operate the new cold storage and distribution facility, which will be the primary distribution point for Norpac's frozen foods. The cold storage and distribution facility will employ around 35-40 employees.

Norpac is also establishing a new office building near the cold-storage facility and relocating its corporate headquarters from Stayton to Salem.

Commenting on the new facility, Norpac CEO George Smith said that the new facility will facilitate the company's expansion.

The company is anticipating to lower its energy utilization and costs by employing efficient transportation and storage practices, added Smith.

Norpac's existing processing facility in Stayton will continue to operate as usual.
