FBR Staff Writer Published 10 July 2013

US-based InstantLabs Medical Diagnostics has received AOAC Performance Tested Methods certification for its Listeria monocytogenes Food Safety Kit.

InstantLabs also unveiled a new software with enhanced features which further simplify and streamline the food safety testing and reporting process, for the test kit.

The Hunter system is a real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) platform that allows rapid, affordable, and accurate detection of pathogens.

The food safety kit has been certified for the identification of Listeria monocytogenes in foods and environmental surfaces that are common carriers of the potentially lethal foodborne pathogen.

The AOAC Performance Tested certification is awarded to products that have passed unbiased and rigorous evaluation and is recognized by the food industry and government agencies.

Hunter system is capable of integrating into food production facilities' HACCP programs and is easy-to-use system available worldwide, according to InstantLabs.

The enhanced software provides immediate notification of results with ability to email test reports on completion of the run.

InstantLabs' Hunter system and Food Safety Test Kits are available to the food industry and import/export organizations worldwide. The company also offers test kits for Salmonella species, E. coli 0157:H7 as well as tests to screen for Shiga-toxin producing E. coli (STEC) including the 'Big 6'; and a porcine DNA detection kit.

InstantLabs is a molecular diagnostic device developer and markets the Hunter Accelerated-PCR system,a real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) platform for rapid, accurate pathogen detection.
